For students with lessons on Saturday:
Simply email or call the office by 4 PM on Friday, the day before your lesson, to let us know you can’t attend your lesson and request a Courtesy Make-up Lesson.
Who do I notify to qualify for a Courtesy Make-up Lesson in ONE EASY STEP?
Email Lynette@SouthLoopPianoLessons.com or call 773-360-5011.
ALERT: DO NOT call, email, or text your teacher. This does not qualify you for a CML. Only the office has FULL access to our scheduling system and knows ALL available make-up lesson openings. We will notify your teacher.
Absences and Make-up Lessons (the nitty gritty):
- NO Courtesy Make-up Lesson is given, and your lesson is forfeited if you do not notify the office as outlined in our One Easy Step (see above).
- Courtesy Make-up Lessons, with your teacher, are not guaranteed. If your teacher’s schedule is completely booked or if you are not available for openings on their schedule, you will have the opportunity to take your Courtesy Make-up Lesson with another teacher.
- There are no Courtesy Make-up Lessons for missed Courtesy Make-up Lessons. Courtesy Make-up Lessons cannot be rescheduled.
- Once enrolled, you are financially responsible for your weekly lesson, regardless of whether you attend.
Summer Vacation Make-ups - See "Summer Vacation" below
For any lessons missed by a teacher, the studio will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute teacher is unavailable, a private makeup lesson with a teacher will be scheduled. In the event of school closing due to severe weather, we will reschedule private lessons during a holiday break. For cancellations by student, refer to "Courtesy Make-up Lessons" above to see if you are eligible for a make-up lesson.
Tuition is paid in advance for all programs and based on enrollment, not attendance. Your tuition reserves your weekly lesson time and membership in the school. The time of your lesson has been reserved and is unavailable to any other student. Your teacher is in the studio and committed to instruct at that time. Therefore, tuition is neither reduced nor refunded due to missed lessons by the student. Tuition does not include any retail teaching materials such as books or instruments. Special Promotions tuition are paid in full and not refunded for any reason.
Average of 4 Lessons per Month
Monthly tuition is based on a 48 week year. We are closed for four weeks for holidays. Holiday closures have been calculated into the monthly tuition rate so no Courtesy Make-up Lessons are offered for holiday closures. In the long months, you will get five lessons, short months such as November and December, you will get three lessons, and most months you will get four lessons. The tuition is the SAME each month; i.e. we don’t charge you more when you have five lessons, and we don’t charge you less when you have three lessons in a month. This makes everyone’s accounting easier.
Lessons are on a month-to-month basis. To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, you must give 30 days notice, in writing, by emailing: email@example.com.
We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons.
The school operates year-round and does not close for the summer. Courtesy Make-up Lessons may be scheduled per the policy above. If you are taking a month off for vacation and want to reserve your lesson time and resume the next month, your payment is still due on the first of the month to reserve your lesson space. The lessons for the month you miss can be made up when you return from vacation.
Care of Students
The school is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. Parents with children under the age of eight must remain in the school lobby during the classes. Students are not to be left at the school before or after their lessons.
Parents, legal guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time.
Open Door Policy
Parents are always allowed to sit in on lessons. We have an open-door policy for lessons.
Children must wait for their parents to pick them up inside the studiol. Please do not ask them to meet you elsewhere. Students are not to be dropped off on the street or curb. The studio assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.
Image and Audio/Video Recording
At the School we host multiple recitals, music parties and photo shoots that are very popular with our parents. A photographer visits the event and takes pictures of the students. Parents get free digital copies. We also videotape occasionally. These may be used on our web site, YouTube and social media. In our monthly newsletter we may feature students of the month.
